Golders Green Residential Refurbishment Project

In this month’s article we take a look at a recently completed refurbishment project in Golders Green, London, UK. LSY Engineering Consultants Ltd were the lead structural engineers from initial concept to completion on site undertaking the following:

• Structural engineering
• BIM
• Site supervision during the construction works

The project scope involved increasing a previous block of 9no. units to 12no. units. This involved structural works which included the following:

• Mezzanine infill
• Removal of several structural walls
• Removal of infill walls to improve existing layouts
• Refurbishments to the existing roof

The project consisted of various forms of materials including precast slabs, cast in situ floors, piled foundations, timber floors, masonry, and concrete walls. From a structural design point of view, the main items that had to be considered was the removal of several structural walls at ground floor level which were bearing on existing piles.

All of the existing apartments have been refurbished with improved layouts and the property’s overall value has significantly increased, providing maximum return on investment for the client.
