Our Latest Temporary Works Projects

Vine Street, London, UK

LSY Engineering Consultants Ltd was appointed by Cadent Gas Ltd to undertake structural surveys and structural appraisal checks for an existing road bridge near Farringdon Station, London. The project formed part of a gas network upgrade programme and involved the installation of two new medium-pressure cast iron (CI MP) pipes beneath the existing bridge structure. The works included abandoning an existing 48-inch cast iron main and replacing it with a 36-inch pipe incorporating a 630mm polyethylene (PE) medium-pressure gas main. Our role included assessing the existing bridge structures, evaluating the impact of the proposed additional loads, and undertaking post-construction inspections to verify that the completed works had not adversely affected the structural integrity of the bridges.

Salmon Lane, London, UK

LSY Engineering Consultants Ltd was appointed by Cadent Gas Ltd to provide structural engineering services for the replacement of a 48-inch diameter steel gas main spanning Regent's Canal in London. The existing gas main, supported on masonry piers, required replacement following the identification of a cracked weld. Our appointment included undertaking an initial structural survey, assessing the existing support infrastructure, and providing structural design input for the proposed replacement arrangement. The scope of services covered the assessment of the existing masonry piers, anchor blocks, and supporting structures, together with the design of remedial strengthening measures and structural appraisals for the revised loading conditions. Throughout the project, LSY worked closely with pipe stressing engineers, mechanical engineers, surveyors, and the principal contractor to ensure the successful delivery of the scheme.

Brighton Dome, Brighton, UK

LSY Engineering Consultants was appointed by the groundworks contractor to provide temporary works design services for the structural upgrade of the Grade I Listed Brighton Dome, one of the UK's most significant cultural and performing arts venues. Located within the prestigious Royal Pavilion Estate in the centre of Brighton, the Regency-era building required the construction of a new basement area beneath the auditorium to create a level floor arrangement that would enhance the venue's functionality and accessibility. Our scope included the design of underpinning works, temporary excavation support systems, sheet piling arrangements, and associated temporary works required to facilitate the basement formation safely within the existing historic structure.
