Acton Project

In this month’s article we are going to discuss a recent refurbishment project in Acton, London, UK. LSY Engineering Consultants Ltd were the structural engineers on the project.

Our role involved:

  • Structural engineers from initial concept to construction stage
  • BIM coordination from concept to construction stage

The Structural scheme had the following:

  • Structural steel
  • Timber floors
  • Reinforced concrete ground beams
  • Underpinning

The lead architects on the project were Thomas Alexander Architects.


The key item to consider initially were undertaking all the possible opening up works and trial holes to confirm all the existing structure. The scheme involved the removal of several structural walls and the installation of two new extensions. This required a total of 21no. new steel beams to accommodate the clients desired layouts.
